Applications Engineer

The Applications Engineer will work with the Power MOSFET business unit supporting both existing products and new product development.
A main requirement of the Applications Engineer will be supporting new products through product validation testing, which will involve extensive lab work.
The Application engineer must be very familiar working in a power electronics lab environment and comfortable working with high voltage lab power supplies, digital oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and DMMs.
The Applications engineer must also provide clear and detailed project summary reports that succinctly communicate project results to management and are used to guide projects to completion.
The Applications Engineer will also support customer designs, troubleshooting customer issues, and generate product promotion material related to the product portfolio.
Technical support includes designing evaluation boards with user guides and generation application notes.
It is also expected that the Applications engineer will aid in developing new test circuits and PCB layouts that can be used to characterize new products.
Responsibilities:
Work with a team of Applications Managers/Engineers supporting BU objectives Validate new product performance through extensive lab testing Present results to the Internal Technical Teams (Design, Applications, Process Integration) Design and build custom test circuits to characterize MOSFETs Design and build automated test systems used to characterize MOSFETs Provide pre- and post-sales technical customer support that includes reviewing customer designs, promoting new and existing products, and troubleshooting customer issues.
Develop evaluation boards for targeted applications Provide collateral material:
datasheets, applications notes, and user guides

BS (or higher) degree in Electrical Engineering Experience working in an electrical lab Experience with Power MOSFET fundamentals Experience working with high frequency switching power converters Self motivated team player with strong desire to achieve BU goals Ability to work efficiency with other groups within the company Preferences:

years of Characterization/Applications Engineering experience Power MOSFET knowledge Prior knowledge of various high frequency power converter topologies (buck, boost, full-bridge) AC/DC and DC/DC Power Conversion knowledge High frequency PCB layout Strong Communications Skills (written and verbal) Customer support experience Familiar with schematic capture, PCB layout and SPICE simulation onsemi (Nasdaq:
