SUMMARY
Responsible for moving trailers in yard, taking inventory of trailers and working with product loads and recording status of loads.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (below). Other duties may be assigned.
I. FACILITY:
Maintains good and accurate records of inventory and information on loads. Moves trailers in yard to designated areas. Performs yard checks involving taking inventory of trailers in the yard; checks trailers. Pulls trailers in and out with tractors which entails hooking and unhooking a line from trailer to tractor and hand cranking of tenders up and down. Picks up and distributes paperwork. Maintains load board which entails recording outbound loads and status of loads. Loads and unloads product to and from trailer using a forklift. Sets up small packing deliveries for UPS. Works with coordinating work activities using tractor trailer, forklift, radio communication and paperwork.
II. OPERATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS:
Must have CDL A required license to operate tractor trailer. Must be forklift certified. Must be able to read, write and understand English. Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, general public, co-workers. Must have ability to perform duties with minimal direction and work independently. Must be able to exercise sound judgment, be well organized, detail oriented, be flexible and cooperative.
III. HEALTH AND SAFETY :
Adheres to safety policies and procedures in compliance with AEP?s guidelines. Visually inspects the facility and yard areas for tripping hazards, equipment safeguards and helps to maintain a clean work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or its equivalent plus CDL A license and forklift certification. Must have prior experience in operating tractor trailer and use of equipment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to request clarification when needed. Working knowledge of business English, spelling, office practices and procedures; departmental rules and regulations as well as overall company policy and procedures.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to do functional math; i.e. adding, subtracting, multiplying and division. Ability to operate calculator by touch.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully and safely perform the essential functions of the job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see and hear. Manual dexterity required with exposure to body fatigue. On a daily basis, the employee stands approximately 2 ? 3 hours; sits up to 30 minutes combined; walks and drives 4 ? 7 hours; climbs, stoops/swats, bends, operates foot controls, push/pulls 3 ? 5 hours; crouch/kneels up to 1 hour; reach above should 3- 5 hours; fine manipulation, grasping 1 ? 5 hours; and lifts up to 5 lbs (package deliveries, otherwise clipboard). Will get in and out of trailer approximately up to 50 times per day. Cranks tenders up and down 50 ? 75 times a day and climbs stairs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions on this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely in and out of the building, parking lot and roadway area of company premises. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continually exposed to operating equipment and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The employee is continuously exposed to temperature variances; extreme heat during the Spring and Summer and cold temperatures in later Fall and in the Winter.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
