As a member of the Management team, the Technical Manager will drive the development and execution of both short term and long term strategies for assigned Berry Plastics products. This position will work closely with Product Development, Automation, Manufacturing and Commercial Development to drive growth in Productivity and profits Berry Plastics.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
Support the Automation, Maintenance and Tooling departments from a leadership perspective.
Provide hands-on support to lead assigned projects to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
Support production, automation and maintenance teams with technical expertise.
Identify and correct technical problems to maintain and improve manufacturing efficiencies in coordination with the Operations Manager.
Manage new product startup projects on site and ensure project are executed in timeline established.
Provide technical support and assist Product Development group with new projects.
Aid in the testing of process ability of new or replacement resins and other raw materials.
Review and make recommendations for productivity improvement based on weekly/monthly efficiency reports.
Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental and health requirements.
Assist other departments with special projects as assigned.
Recommend/justify equipment/tooling purchases to further enhance the business.
Support Tooling Manager in maintaining effective preventive maintenance and inspection programs for molds.
Manage assigned departmental budgets and projects.
Make suggestions for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
Provide appropriate training and documentation related to products produced.
Provide support to Operations Manager and QA Manager for quality issues and implementation of corrective actions.
Travel as required to support the company goals and objectives.
Conduct performance reviews, establish goals for technical personnel.

Able to identify, define, prioritize, and address operations improvement opportunities using data and quantitative information.
Able to support departments from a technical perspective.
Proven ability to drive new product development in cooperation with sales?
Ability to work effectively with Sales, Product Development, Tool & Die makers and Operations leaders to drive profitable growth.
Demonstrated ability to integrate technical staff to support business strategies
Solid technical trouble shooting skills
Proven ability to plan, organize and execute projects
Demonstrated ability to analyze data and translate findings to identify process improvement opportunities
Strong presentation and innovative skills
Ability to provide leadership for technical and non-technical personnel
Understanding of markets and products that are being sold and relating functionality of product to market.
Be able to prepare operating budgets and capital budgets.
Education/Training Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Plastics Engineering or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years of progressive Engineering experience in an injection molding environment
Proficient in CAD design
Minimum 5 years experience in part and injection mold design
Working knowledge of Tool & Die making practices and tolerances
Demonstrated ability to design experiments (DOE) to collect data for standardizing and documenting processes and production targets.
Experienced in applying and developing Quality programs such as ISO 9000 and SQF
Experienced in applying continuous improvement analytical programs such as SPC, Six Sigma and Lean
Working knowledge of the injection molding process and injection molding machines
Ability to design and translate effective strategies and tactics to the commercial teams.
Capability to build/maintain excellent rapport with operations, product development, tooling engineers and sales and marketing teams.
Demonstrated meeting facilitation and project management skills.
Proficient in all micro soft programs.
Proven ability to apply innovative solutions to product design and processes"

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
